The Wine Society of East Tennessee Presents a Special Bourbon Flight Tasting
on May 4, 2022 at 6:30PM
located at Campbell Station Wine and Spirits.
You will be greeted with a Mint Julep, followed by a flight of 3 Bourbons that are Barrel selected by our very own Campbell Station Wine and Spirits. Feel free to dress up in your hats, linen or seersucker suits and your dresses ladies. Heavy Hors D’oeuvres will be provided by Euphoric Cheese Shop and Holly’s Gourmet Market.
Clyde Mays Single Barrel
Nose: Caramel corn, marshmallows, spice, vanilla ice cream, little bits of oak, dried cherries and an earthy undertone that reminds me of mushrooms. It’s a nice aroma for sure.
Palate: Caramel, vanilla, dried corn, peanuts, herbal spice, a light citrus and something that reminds me of root beer. As tasty as the aroma is nice.
Finish: Medium and dry peanut brittle, anise, peanut oil, pepper and mint.
Knob Creek Single Barrel
Nose: Strong and spicy wood, pepper, allspice, and cinnamon explode out of the glass grasping for the first whiffs of air, with lightly nutty and minty following right behind. Moderate mashed corn, citrus, honey, and buttercream also battle for my attention, with underlying deep and dark caramel clinging to every sniff.
Palate: Swirling lets Knob Creek Single Barrel Bourbon showcase more of the fruit. Moderate notes of citrus, peach, dried cherries, and other fruits mixed with honey, brown sugar, and alcohol. There’s even a little bit of baked nuts and fuji apple sprinkled with cinnamon.
Nose: Sweet cherry, apple & burnt caramel in the background; light cinnamon; light alcohol
Taste: Light tea and caramel, light simple sugar sweetness; subtle char
Finish: The flavors continue into the finish with a noticeable black pepper spiciness developing and then fading; moderate burn with flavors lingering
